Summer 2021 was a very special summer for Han Thi Tuyet Nhung (A student of Class K62CNTYB), she was selected as a representative for Vietnam to participate in “The 5th Virtual Summer Course Program: Livestock, Agriculture, and Tourism: Multi-disciplinary Approaches to Environment-Friendly Development", organized by Gadja Mada University - Indonesia's top 3 university. She participated in the programme along with 99 delegates from 30 universities/13 countries and territories: China, Cambodia, Philippines, India, Indonesia, Kuwait, Madagascar, Malaysia, Korea, and Taiwan.., Thailand and Timor Leste.
In the online format, participants learned a wide range of knowledge related to livestock, agriculture and tourism. Through group discussions, the young generation of agricultural engineers exchanged ideas, raised problems, and found solutions in connection with the agricultural issues of their country.
The delegates also had the opportunity to experience hi-tech agriculture through virtual reality technology allowing them to visit factories, farms and to find out what is going on with farming in agriculture, agricultural tourism, product marketing... in some ASEAN countries. Since then, Nhung learned valuable knowledge about agriculture, tourism and feeding system with a new perspective.
The program was also an opportunity for Nhung to discover new cultures and languages and to promote the Vietnamese culture as well as the typical agriculture of Vietnam to international friends.
The 5th Summer Course is over but the good feeling about this beneficial experience still lingers among the participants. We thank you so much UGM for your efforts. Hopefully next summer, when the World overcomes the COVID-19 pandemic, the 6th summer course will be held at Gadja Mada University, Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
