1. History
The Center for Interdisciplinary Studies in Rural Development is a unit under the Faculty of Animal Science - Vietnam National University of Agriculture (hereinafter referred to as Faculty) established under Decision No. 507 / QD-DHI-TCCB dated 12/7/2004 by the President of Hanoi University of Agriculture (now the Vietnam National University of Agriculture).

The center has 6 staffs including 1 manager and 5 researchers and contract laborers. The staff of the Center has 1 professor, 1 doctors, 1 masters, 3 bachelors. In addition, the Center has a collaborative research relationship with the teaching staff, researchers of the Faculty as well as units inside and outside the University.
3. The Center has the following functions:
a / To study and participate in the training of human resources in the fields of animal science, veterinary and agricultural and rural development;
b/ To cooperate and develop scientific subjects and development projects in the fields of animal science, veterinary medicine, agricultural and rural development;
c / To participate in bidding for scientific subjects, development projects, domestic and overseas training programs on relevant domains;
d) Participating in the transfer of technical advances into production practices (breeding technologies, breeding animals, management of breeds, disease management, feed and livestock waste treatment);
e) Consultancy on scientific research and development in fields related to animal science, veterinary and agricultural and rural development.
4. Facilities
Facilities of the Center includes two working rooms with full facilities for research and functions of the Center. Besides, it is a small library with hundreds of books on the fields of animal science, aquatic science, economics, social sciences.
5. Main research areas of the Center
Main research directions of the Center include: Research and development of technical advances in the field of animal husbandry and animal health, such as studies on conservation of native livestock breeds, especially on chickens, raising and quality of pet products, pet products chain. Database of livestock disease management, database of livestock breed management. At the same time, research on preservation and processing of agricultural products, organization of vocational training courses for farmers such as raising techniques, detection and prevention of disease, etc. to test socio-economic solutions to provide information and scientific basis to help policy makers have appropriate policies. The overarching objective of these studies is to detect the positive effects and constraints of agricultural policy and rural development policies on agricultural production and livelihoods of farmers. Research on agricultural systems, agricultural commodity chains, contributing to recommendations and solutions suitable for each link in the supply chain of agricultural products. Socio-economic studies for agricultural and rural development include changes in farmer structure and rural production relationships in the transition from a centrally planned economy to a market economy. school.
