In celebration of Vietnam Science and Technology Day (May 18), the Faculty of Animal Science – Vietnam National University of Agriculture organized the Conference on Reviewing Scientific and Technological Activities for the 2020–2025 period and Orientations for 2026–2030. The conference took place on the morning of May 12, 2026, at the Faculty of Animal Science, with the participation of all faculty staff members and guests from the KOICA-VNUA Project Office.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Bui Huy Doanh, Vice Dean in charge of the Faculty, emphasized that scientific and technological activities are facing strong demands for innovation in accordance with Resolution No. 57 of the Politburo on science and technology development, innovation, and national digital transformation, as well as Decision No. 808/QĐ-TTg dated May 6, 2026, issued by the Prime Minister regarding strategic technology development tasks. He stressed that the Faculty of Animal Science should continue promoting the achievements gained over the past five years while further fostering innovation and development in the next phase.

At the conference, Dr. Nguyen Thi Vinh presented the summary report on scientific and technological activities during 2020–2025. During this period, the Faculty implemented 82 research projects and scientific programs at various levels. Scientific publication activities remained stable with 317 published papers, including 96 international publications. In addition, the Faculty published 17 books and textbooks serving education and research purposes. The Faculty also actively organized and participated in both domestic and international scientific conferences, particularly those within the framework of the KOICA-VNUA Project and AVS workshops held at the university and partner institutions.

One of the highlights of the past period was the operation of strong research groups. From 2022 to 2024, 100% of faculty staff participated in research groups, including one excellent research group and two strong research groups. Several groups exceeded their assigned scientific performance targets. In 2025, for example, the Breeding and Animal Production Technology Group achieved more than 134% of its target, while the Feed and Animal Products Group exceeded 105%.

In addition, the Faculty achieved significant outcomes in developing technical procedures, technological innovations, and startup and innovation activities. Many innovative ideas from staff and students were recognized, notably the product “Pellet Feed from Fruit By-products,” which won an award at the National Startup Competition.

The conference also frankly acknowledged several limitations, including the limited number of ministerial-, state-, and international-level projects; the relatively small number of high-quality international publications; and the insufficient level of scientific and technological transfer compared to the Faculty’s potential.

For the 2026–2030 period, the Faculty of Animal Science identified a development orientation focused on improving research quality and strengthening international integration. Key research areas include: modern breeding based on genomic technology; advanced animal nutrition; development of biological products as alternatives to antibiotics; conservation and development of indigenous animal genetic resources; and specialty livestock production linked to value chains. The Faculty aims to increase the number of international publications by an average of 10% annually, while also promoting applied research and commercialization of scientific and technological products.

Within the framework of the conference, the Faculty’s strong research groups presented professional reports, shared research outcomes, and discussed future development orientations.

During the discussion session, the conference received valuable contributions from leading experts, including Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Trach and Associate Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hoang Thinh. They emphasized the importance of clearly defining research objectives, contents, methodologies, human resources, and financial resources when implementing scientific projects, while also strengthening collaboration among research groups to improve the effectiveness and practical value of research activities.

A special highlight of the conference was the ceremony honoring authors and research groups with outstanding scientific achievements during the 2020–2025 period, recognizing their remarkable contributions to the Faculty’s scientific and technological activities:
